This was just one of those amazing in every way weddings. I knew I would be excited for this day when I first met Mari and Jose at a bride and groom meeting at our house. They are so in love, so affectionate and giddy talking about their wedding. I had a blast getting to know them better at their engagement shoot and wedding planning.
We were all nervous the night before when it thunder stormed in San Diego for the first time in years. It was calling for forty percent chance of rain all day on their wedding day. We all woke up to super grey and dark clouds. But when it was time to start, the sky opened up and was stunning and had the perfect amount of cloud cover to give a flattering look to all in photos.
We love this little hidden gem of a venue on Lake San Marcos. The Lake House Hotel is super cute and trendy. If you haven’t checked it out for your venue or a staycation, you really must. It is right on the lake and comes with so many fun activities to do including bikes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and boat rides for fishing. This is where this cutest couple stayed and did their getting ready photos.
We did the first look along the gorgeous path of the lake. The ceremony was overlooking the lake on the grassy knoll. It was complete with swans swimming in the water and a confetti popper exit of the couple. The cocktail hour was so festive on the deck of the Dockside Restaurant. They hired the coolest and most amazing Mariachi Band. I had to focus and take photos, but I just wanted to sit and watch them! The reception was upstairs at the elegant Decoy restaurant. If you have never heard of this you must come in for a date night. You will not be disappointed! The dance floor was packed the whole night with Jose and Mari and all her dancer friends. They even had Menchie’s froyo come for desert with a yogurt candy station.
We had a blast from start to finish getting to know this couple and know we will all stay friends! We can’t wait to see where life takes them!
